💧 The river that runs underground in Idaho

Idaho's potatoes grow on top of an old lava plain. But that plain is hiding something else — a huge amount of water, moving slowly through the rock. And where a canyon cuts the rock open, the water comes out sideways.

Next time you find a spring on a hillside, put a hand in it. Is it colder than the air today? Would it still be colder in winter? That is your clue that the water came from below.
